Terre Matildiche is a sports club that is active across the regions which were once owned by the famous Grand Duchess Matilda of Canossa, more specifically what are now the Municipalities of Ciano, Quattro Castella, San Polo, Montecavolo, Puianello and Vezzano.

Founded in 1983 thanks to the work of a group of volunteers from Montecavolo, this sports club’s journey began when volleyball was added to football as part of its activities.

In 2005, the turning point which led to the foundation of a new club, bearing the name of Terre Matildiche, meant that it had to expand its boundaries from the Municipality of Vezzano to the east and to the Municipality of Canossa to the west, covering all the villages and working together with the football clubs in the municipalities involved.

Its activities have always focused on the development and growth of young people, while never forgetting the competitive side. Thanks to the management’s ceaseless, passionate work, the Terre Matildiche Sports Club has always developed its young members, teaching them about the healthy values of sport. Its efforts made over the years have been rewarded with an agreement with La Reggiana in terms of its youth training programme, which has also recently involved Carpi.

Among the jewels in the crown of Terre Matildiche, we find the Coppa dei Campioncini, the most prestigious youth tournament in the region aimed at newcomers.
Over 500 members took part in this sports club’s activities last season:
320 in football, 120 in volleyball and 40 in tennis.

Its full list of activities includes:
• Football
• 5-a-side football
• Tennis
• Volleyball
• Adults’ gymnastics

On 1 January 2011, it became an amateur cooperative club with the aim of getting the public more involved in its activities to energise its efforts.
