As the creator behind the La Bottega del Buongusto online shop, the Novelli Farm is a family-run business located in Novellara, in the Province of Reggio Emilia, set in the heart of the Parmigiano Reggiano production area.

The Novelli Farm monitors all stages of the milk supply chain, from producer to consumer. Through the Bottega del Buongusto, it offers healthy, authentic products, and standing out above all these is Parmigiano Reggiano, the king of cheeses, famous the world over.

Over time, the Novelli family has kept alive the art and traditions of Parmigiano Reggiano made with milk from the Vacche Rosse (red cows). Over the years, this typical breed of cattle of the region has been on the verge of extinction but has now fortunately been revived.

The story of the Novelli farm began way back in 1800, at a time when farmers did not own the land they worked. Their produce helped their families to survive or was used for trading at markets. Born in 1928, Antonio Novelli passed down the ancient production tradition to his children, which now has a new market approach through the Bottega del Buongusto.

In 1960, Antonio Novelli bought a plot of land near to Novellara and, together with his brother Andrea, he built the farm that is now run by his children, Maurizio and Manuel, and his nephew Marcello; over time, the farm has expanded thanks to the purchase of new land, the construction of new stables and the increase and changes in Parmigiano Reggiano production.

Manuel Novelli, Antonio’s son, has inherited his father’s initiative in managing the production and sale of typical Emilian products. He would like to modernise the family business even further, including through new product distribution systems.

The Novelli Farm is launching an e-commerce project with La Bottega del Buongusto, an online shop where you can buy all the fresh products offered by the farm with no middlemen: this establishes direct, reliable contact between the producer and consumer.
